The Influence of Duration of Feeding Dietary Vitamin D2 Enriched Mushroom Powder to Finisher Pigs on Growth Performance and Meat Quality Parameters

Novel feed additives that replace the use of synthetic while enhancing pig performance and pork quality are continuously being explored. A complete randomised block design experiment was conducted to examine effects duration feeding vitamin D 2 enriched mushrooms finisher pigs its effect on quality. Sixty were assigned one three dietary treatments for a 69-day period. The as follows: (T1) basal diet; (T2) diet + 1 g/kg mushroom powder 48 days prior slaughter (MPVD-48); (T3) 26 (MPVD-26). content naturally using ultraviolet B exposure obtain level 50 µg/kg feed. Dietary supplementation powder, irrespective duration, caused reduction (P < 0.05) in intake, whilst improving gain-to-feed ratio. Supplementation lightness (L*) values remain stable over 21-day storage time-period compared with all other groups. also lipid peroxidation day 4 days. Irrespective improved FRAP (ferric reducing antioxidant power) basal. In conclusion, supplementation, intake but efficiency. shorter relation colour status. • Vitamin D₂ reduces pigs. improves efficiency
